Afrikanske Dager
Collaborative Art Festival based in Drammen
Following an inspirational open mic session series at Nordic Black Theatre, an open mic/visual art night based in Drammen, “Open Expressions,” formed the basis for “Afrikanske Dager”, a yearly art festival centered around collaboration was held for the first time in 2014 at Union scene, Drammen.
The Mayor of Drammen attended the first Afrikanske Dager, with participants including Sarah Camille Rasmussen, Zezé Kolstad, Miriam Nabunya, Ezinne Okparaebo, James Etokebe, Josef Yohannes and many more. Workshops were held with local youth who were provided with the tools to express themselves through photography and exhibition.
In 2016, the Afrikanske Dager team collaborated to create a children’s book entitled “Malu får nye fletter,” written by Jemimah Yombo and edited by Nicole Rafiki, with photographic illustrations throughout.
